David Online Bible Study Week 4

By February 2, 2014David

David Bible StudyWelcome back as we continue to read David: Seeking a Heart Like His by Beth Moore for this online Bible study for women.  I have experienced a range of emotions during this week. ..Whew!  My heart has been excitedly enveloped with hope, encouragement, and love.   Then, I almost swept the bottom with sadness encircled with a catch in my breath.  Let me briefly explain.

Day One brought encouragement to my heart as I was reminded how God wants us to know how to properly live when our emotions are trying to overwhelm us.  As women, we could write volumes of books regarding the ranges of our emotions we have experienced over our lifetime.   We tend to go overboard, like David did, as he feared Saul’s attempts to overtake his life.  Fear or the panic of a fear has a way of draining us of all the sweet reminders God sends to us on a daily basis.  I pray we remember this the next time the enemy tries to place fear in our hearts and minds regarding our lives or the lives of our loved ones.  Standing in the peace and promises of God allows us to trust God, regardless of the outcome.

In areas of our lives whereas we feel powerless and lack an appropriate level of control; we tend to be overbearing and manipulative in some of our areas of success.   We recognized this in David with his case of overkill.  Focusing too much on the issue that is bringing the fear or panic will cause us to miss from seeing God and how He may want to possibly deliver us.  Fear caused David to live in the enemy’s territory for a period of a year and four months!  This sounds absurd to us now because we are standing on the other side of David’s fear.  It is sometimes impossible to have a correct God-focused vision when our eyes are too blurred with fear.   I love what Beth Moore shared with us on page 85,  “See what happens when we focus more on our battles than on God?  Our enemy appears bigger, we appear weaker, and God appears smaller.  Beware: long-term battle can cause vision impairment if eyes focus anywhere but up.”

Let us use these startling nuggets to fuel us to continue this journey with God!  Isaiah 50:7 reads, “Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced.  Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.”   Let us set our hearts as flint to target every treasure God wants us to gather from this awesome study.  Please share with us your highlights from week four.  We look forward to high-fiving God with you in your triumphs!  Likewise, we look forward to praying with you during your opportunities of faith-growth with God.  We love you and praise God for your continued voyage with us!

I want to thank you all for doing this Bible Study. It is one of the best I have ever taken part in. It makes me want to shout to all women, Come, and learn these truths! I love getting to know David and everyone he comes in contact with. I feel like I am there with him experiencing all that he is experiencing. So much of this is applicable to life today! Oh….and I had never heard of an Ephod. How interesting! Thanks again!!

I’m working on getting caught up on this study and love it! 1. As far as feeling powerless, I just try to turn it over to God and think it’s part of His plan. 2. I think God always gives us a way out of temptation, if we look for it. 3. I post Bible verses around my home and even in my car as ways to encourage myself to stay focused on Him. I also listen to Christian music to help me feel more positive. 4. I went through an unexpected divorce a few years ago that really shook me. Now, as a single mom I can see how much closer it has brought me to God! 5. I had a goal last year to send a card or make a phone call twice a month to people I hadn’t talked to in awhile. It really helped me keep up with this! 🙂
