We’re glad you want to join us as we read Christian books in the Womens Bible Cafe Book club! Here are some of the things you need to know in order to participate.
What are you reading this month?
Each month, we post the books we’ll be reading here: https://www.womensbiblecafe.com/monthly-book-club/
You can also visit that page to see what books we’ve completed. https://www.womensbiblecafe.com/book-club/
Do we need a workbook or study guide for the Book Club?
No. Here at the Womens Bible Cafe, we have two different things. Our primary ministry is online Bible studies where we use workbooks and meet in live small groups throughout the week to chat about the content. You can find out more about our current and upcoming studies on our website:https://www.womensbiblecafe.com/
In the WBC Book Club, we read and discuss two new books each month, a Christian nonfiction book and a Christian fiction book. These are not workbook studies. You can join the Book Club here and participate in the Quick Chat discussions that take place throughout the month: https://www.facebook.com/groups/WBCbooks/ We’d love for you to join in!
When will you announce the books for the next month?
We usually announce the upcoming month’s books between the 12th and 15th of the previous month.
Where do I get the books?
Here in the Book Club, we all get our own copies of the books wherever we can find them the cheapest or in the format that we like the best. If you click on the post about this month’s reading, you will find links to the books on Amazon where you can buy them in paperback, Kindle format or perhaps even find used copies available. You can also check your local library or church library, and many libraries even lend e-books through the Overdrive library system. Many ladies find the books from online used book outlets like ebay or get them from Christianbook.com, Barnes and Noble, and Christian book stores.
Where is the reading schedule posted?
There is no set reading schedule in the Book Club. Some of the participants are reading just one book with us and others are reading two. Some like to read both books at the same time and others like to read one and then the other. In order to allow for flexibility, we do not maintain a set reading schedule. Simply begin the books at the start of the month and we’ll close out the book discussions on the last day of the month.
Where are the live chats? How do I participate in the discussions?
Once you have the copy of the book(s), it’s easy to participate! We start reading at the beginning of the month. Everyone reads at their own pace. There is no set reading schedule. Throughout the month, I will host Quick Chats, alternating between the nonfiction and fiction books. You can post your answers whenever you are ready, and you can also share your own questions, thoughts, and favorite quotes about the book if you like. These are not live events. If you check the Book Club every day or every other day, you should see when we have a discussion going.
Can I add my friends to the group?
We love that you want to share the Book Club with others, but please do not add friends to this group. While we’d love for them to join in, when you add someone to a FB group, it does not send them an invitation. Instead, it will automatically add them without their permission as soon as I approve the request. At WBC, we try to practice online courtesy by not adding people to groups without their permission. Feel free to share the link of our group with your friends and ask them to join! We would love to have them!! But they will need to make the request themselves in order for it to be approved.
I have a prayer request to share. Can I post it?
If you’d like to post a prayer request to the Women’s Bible Cafe, you can put it in the WBC Small group room and not in the Book Club. There is a prayer request post that our prayer team uses to keep all the prayers in one place so they don’t miss any. It helps us to keep you in prayer when all the prayers are in that one location. Thank you for helping us out! https://www.facebook.com/groups/WBCSmallGroups/
We hope you’ll enjoy reading and discussing Christian books with us in the WBC Book Club!
