Where Does My Strength Come From?

It’s frustrating.  Even though I’m not a very big woman, I’ve always “prided” myself in my ability to get things done.  If I wanted to move the furniture around, I wouldn’t wait for my husband to help; I’d just figure out a way to move it myself.  Coming from a long line of small but strong, pioneer-type women, I learned from an early age to figure out a way to get things done.  But now, it’s not so easy.   My healing drips have pretty well zapped my strength; God certainly has a lesson in this for me.

Where does my strength come from?

“I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains. He won’t let you stumble; your Guardian God won’t fall asleep. Not on your life! Israel’s Guardian will never doze or sleep.God’s your Guardian, right at your side to protect you -Shielding you from sunstroke, sheltering you from moon stroke. God guards you from every evil; he guards your very life. He guards you when you leave and when you return, he guards you now, he guards you always.” Psalm 121 (Message)

“I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit-not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength – Ephesians 3:16

“At first I didn’t think of it as a gift, and begged God to remove it. Three times I did that, and then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

And then finally………”the joy of the Lord is my strength.”  It’s easy to find joy in the everyday.  Finding that joy actually does make me stronger!  Playing with my grandchildren, planting a beautiful red geranium, getting a shoulder rub from my husband, singing praise and worship at church, or basking in the warm spring sunshine actually does infuse me with a strength that is life-giving and authentic.

“God is my strength, God is my song, and, yes! God is my salvation. This is the kind of God I have and I’m telling the world! This is the God of my father-I’m spreading the news far and wide!”  Exodus 15:2

    Hi Cindy,

This was really a very calming article. I’m learning that I get strength just from being able to read the word and sit with friends and discuss it. Sharing of ideas and thoughts about the nature of our Father really gives me peace.

great question where does my strength come from
    God Bless
