Digging deep into our second week of study, we’re learning about the characters of holy and loved. Many people are familiar with unholy, an easily identifiable condition of the heart. We see this in ourselves, in our past, and in our communities.
I’ve always said “negative is louder than positive.” We notice the unholy and reward negativity. Unholy is attention-seeking and often rooted in both rebellion and pride. We can’t “fail” at being unholy so it’s a wider, louder, and a seemingly easier journey.
In Scripture, Believers are warned …
For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 2 Timothy 3:2-5 ESV
Did you see that LIST? Nineteen examples of unholy.
It would be wise for us to write these down. Study what displeases Our Father in Heaven and His angels.
Holiness is a framework for Christian living recognized by the word justification. But what exactly does this mean? Do we earn it through good works? A majority of the denominations stand on the doctrine of justification – being made right in the presence of God- is attained through Christ alone. However, these denominations disagree: Mormons, Jehovah’s Witness, and Christian Science.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV
In contrast, “The Pharisee believed he could achieve righteousness through his own goodness..” Kelly Minter. There are numerous dangers in this false doctrine. God is looking for the seal of God upon you.
They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any green plant or any tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. Revelation 9:4 ESV
Holy. The Seal of God is a seal of holiness. Given in grace through Our Savoir Christ.
True LOVE shoots much higher than mere happiness. It shoots for holiness..the foundation on which thriving relationships find their footing. pic.twitter.com/GJXoS7RIGS

In a place of holiness we encounter agape love. Our abiding place where we draw near to His heart.
Knowing we are holy and loved..chosen by God… doesn’t elevate us above all mankind. It simple means we’ve chosen that which is good, and God is patiently waiting for them to choose it too.
You are loved.
Be careful. When you’re full. When your houses are big and beautiful. When your stuff increases. When your money doubles. This is when pride creeps in. When we forget The God who delivered us. I LOVE Duet 8. I never want to forget the One who rescues in the wilderness and wealth. pic.twitter.com/7u5iEqNcxY
